Bookkeep pricing: the short answer

Bookkeep's published plans start at US$19/month and rise with connected revenue, channels and features. Its order-to-cash report is advertised at US$99/month plus a software subscription, with plan eligibility requiring confirmation. The full plan and add-on tables are below.

If you are comparing prices because Shopify deposits are hard to explain or month-end leaves you chasing unfinished accounting, our recommendation is Vatteo. For US$59 per 30-day billing cycle, it brings payout reconstruction, proposed journals, bank-match review and month-end checks into one workspace, with QuickBooks Online and Xero support.

See why a payout differs from your Shopify sales

A Shopify deposit arrives. Your accountant needs to know which sales, refunds, fees and adjustments explain it, which accounts the journal uses, and whether the bank received the expected amount. Vatteo reconstructs the payout from Shopify Payments activity and prepares the accounting for review.

Start with the completed payout. Inspect its source components and any difference from the amount Shopify paid. Then review the proposed journal using approved account mappings. Payout reconstruction and bank matching are separate checks, so you can distinguish a difference in the underlying activity from a difference in the bank deposit.

In the test-store example below, $400 of product sales plus $40 of tax, less $12 of payment fees, explains a $428 payout. The screen shows an exact match to the source activity and posted accounting status. Bank confirmation is a separate step.

  • Explain the net deposit: trace sales, refunds, fees and adjustments to the payout evidence.
  • Review the entry: check destination accounts and balanced journal lines before live posting.
  • Follow the cash: review the bank match and investigate any remaining difference.

This gives the merchant and accountant a concrete place to answer why a deposit has its particular value and what needs attention before the accounting is complete.

Know what still needs attention before month-end

At month-end, the next question is whether the period is ready to sign off. Vatteo brings expected payout coverage, journal status, bank matches, tax review and product-cost checks into the monthly close. You can see unfinished work and record how exceptions were handled.

Actual test-store close, still in progress. Vatteo makes the outstanding bank match and missing balance import visible so the reviewer can see what remains to finish.
  • Find missing or late payouts and confirm that required journals and bank matches are complete.
  • Review missing product costs and return evidence when COGS is enabled.
  • Record external-payment checks and acknowledged exceptions for the reviewer.
  • Retain the close snapshot and sign-off history; reopening a period requires a reason.

That is Vatteo's buying case: payout evidence, accounting entries and the remaining close work stay connected. Your accountant still makes the accounting judgments, with a visible record of what was reviewed and what remains unresolved.

Order-to-cash reconciliation reportingUS$99/month plus a software subscriptionEligible plan and report access; official sources differ, as explained below
Historical postingsUS$0.35 per new historical journal entryNumber and types of billable entries

For example, 300 new historical journal entries at US$0.35 would cost US$105, in addition to the subscription. The charge is per new journal entry, not per Shopify order or day; reposting an existing entry is not charged again under Bookkeep's documentation.

Monthly, annual and Shopify billing: check the signup route

Bookkeep's website describes Lite as monthly-only and limits annual billing to direct signups in its FAQ. Its Shopify listing advertises annual options for Starter, Growth and Pro and refers to recurring charges every 30 days. Confirm the upfront payment and renewal interval for your signup route.

Vatteo's ongoing price is US$59 per 30-day billing cycle. The 30-day trial and US$19 first three paid cycles are introductory offers. Your QuickBooks or Xero subscription and external accountant's fees are separate.

What are you paying Vatteo to help you finish?

With Vatteo, a completed payout review has a traceable explanation, reviewed accounting and a checked bank match. A completed monthly close retains the checks, sign-off and any acknowledged exceptions. Those are the outputs to judge when you try the product with your accountant.

Bookkeep also offers accounting automation and reconciliation capabilities. Its lower entry price does not establish the cost of your required configuration, and its reporting add-on is not a like-for-like price for Vatteo's close workflow. The reason to choose Vatteo is that these payout and close tasks are the work you need to finish.

Common questions

Bookkeep pricing and Vatteo FAQ

Is Vatteo a good alternative to Bookkeep for Shopify?

Yes. We recommend Vatteo for Shopify Payments merchants using QuickBooks Online or Xero who want to explain deposits, review proposed entries, check bank matches and track the work remaining before month-end sign-off. The plan costs US$59 per 30-day billing cycle after the introductory offer.

Which Bookkeep plan includes managed COGS?

Bookkeep lists managed COGS from Pro. Vatteo includes product-cost and COGS review when enabled, including missing costs and return evidence; this does not establish an identical managed-service scope. Bookkeep also says historical Shopify COGS imports are generally unsupported because later cost changes can make old data unreliable.

Can I add Bookkeep's reconciliation report to Lite?

The public sources do not establish that combination. The pricing page presents an add-on with a software subscription, while the reporting documentation restricts access to higher plans. Ask Bookkeep to confirm the eligible subscription and combined charge.

Does Bookkeep charge historical imports per Shopify order?

Its historical-posting documentation charges per new historical journal entry. An import can include several kinds of accounting entries, so request an entry count for the required periods. Reposting an existing entry is not charged again under that documentation.

Does Vatteo support Xero?

Yes. Vatteo supports QuickBooks Online and Xero for Shopify accounting. The product examples in this article use the QuickBooks workflow.

What is Vatteo's ongoing price?

Vatteo costs US$59 per 30-day billing cycle. The launch offer includes a 30-day trial and US$19 for the first three paid cycles. Your QuickBooks or Xero subscription and external accounting services are separate. Request early access through the pricing page.
