Three costs, one clear monthly total.
Payment processing is your captured payments multiplied by the percentage rate, plus the fixed fee multiplied by the number of payment transactions. Refunding an order reduces cash received, but does not undo the original Shopify Payments processing charge.
Shopify third-party transaction fees are an additional percentage when an external payment provider is subject to those fees. Choose the third-party option and enter your provider’s actual processing rate. The standard Shopify Payments card scenario has no additional Shopify third-party transaction fee.
Your Shopify plan is the subscription. Monthly billing uses the monthly price; annual billing uses its monthly equivalent. The estimate excludes promotional offers and taxes on your Shopify bill. You can edit the subscription amount to match your actual cost.

How much does Shopify charge per online sale?
For a standard domestic online card payment, Shopify Payments charges a percentage of the captured payment plus a fixed amount per transaction. The rate depends on your store country and plan. Select your US or UK plan above to load the published rate, then adjust it if your actual rate differs. The monthly Shopify subscription is shown separately.
Do Shopify fees apply to tax and shipping?
Payment processing is based on the amount charged to the customer, including tax and shipping after discounts. Shopify’s additional third-party transaction fee also uses the order value after discounts, including tax and shipping. Enter that full captured amount here. For profit, tax collected should be separated from revenue; use the profit-margin calculator for that calculation.
Do I get the processing fees back when I refund an order?
Shopify Payments does not return the original card processing fee when you refund a payment. Shopify’s additional third-party transaction fees are also not returned. This calculator keeps those fees on the original captured amount and subtracts the refund from the remaining cash. External payment providers can have different refund policies, which this estimate does not model.
Will this match the fee total in my Shopify payout?
It is a monthly planning estimate. A real payout can contain payments and refunds from different dates, other card rates, chargebacks, adjustments, currency conversion and transaction-level rounding. Your Shopify subscription and additional third-party transaction fees are billed separately from Shopify Payments processing fees.
